NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates features live text of Sunday's games via various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage is available on select stations for another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week of the football calendar , after last week's discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their perfect starts.

Striking during those contests was the number of penalties both conceded. Philadelphia did so in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, who play in London this Sunday.

However it was good to see how Denver quarterback the rookie managed to have that deficit before lead three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, securing the game by four points.

Denver boast the defensive player of the year with CB Pat Surtain II. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, and Denver prevailed in that battle.

They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not necessarily rushing more than four defenders instead they could position two LBs in the 'A' gap then drop them out and send a nickel off the edge.

Early on of the season, it was noted on a program how the Broncos might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year well then excelled in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?

New TE their tight end has stepped up big and new running back their rusher is a player the team trusts. He's currently 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).

It's impressive that the coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

That shows that the Broncos are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes and maintains in positive down and distances.

This has helped QB Bo Nix, who entered the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they lack the mobility as Nix. He boasts exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, plus he's highly agile.

His assets are his movement, being able to throw on the run, and using varied release points to deliver the pass as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He can deliver that layered pass over the middle or past defenders.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got great poise under pressure and is not bothered by extra rushers. He tries to evade a sack as much as possible and is able throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.

If you constantly run the ball it eats up the clock and forces the opponent to stay on the field extended periods, and when you've got a mobile QB the defence has to defend the area downfield and horizontally. This proves draining.

The quarterback has bitten back at Payton during games sometimes and I think Payton appreciates that fire, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's fun for him to have a young quarterback that is similar to play-dough. He can truly develop him how he wants to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.

Payton has won a Super Bowl and has surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. I think the achievements the Broncos are experiencing on offence is mostly down to his leadership, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix aids shape him what he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you through some of the tougher situations and build confidence.

I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team good enough to face an elite team at its best? Because that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.

Currently, I don't think the Broncos are elite. They're working above average, that's a solid position to be in their division. All they need is to continue this trajectory.

They're really good at leaning into their strength, that is running the ball, and this is precisely what they should do against the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win any game.

Ever since the league started recording takeaways in 1933, this team are the first team to go without a single takeaway through five games, this is kind of shocking considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator with another team.

Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss to Jacksonville.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the division.

This hinges on what version Kansas City shows up they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
