Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors report that a ex- physician now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the forty-five charges comprise:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
