Football Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak was ended by the Black Cats before the global break, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, fans and a variety of guests.

For the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Soccer and Family Experiences

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity game the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend football team," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their offense is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this game will be fairly close, however. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

It suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' only on the road win this season came at Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno was still that team's manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will go with the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign started, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.

My son told me to select Bees striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at home. Brentford will try to hit them on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

They have got lots of quality in their team but it still feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

Their display in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of October.

But I am not choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's home record, the sole side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely eager for a good result, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough one to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
