England's Coach Tim Southee Unsure on Ashes Availability
The bowler's most recent Test for the Kiwis was against the English side in December 2024.
England fast-bowling advisor Southee is still working through the extent of his role will be during the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former New Zealand pace bowler is only likely to be present for the first Test because of his participation in the ILT20 competition, which starts on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
Southee, 36, assumed a position as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Commenting as the English squad for the first of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was announced, he stated of his participation: "We're still working through that at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the next little while."
English bowling legend Broad had declared the Australian team as their "weakest squad since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over the anticipated challenge during the contest, which starts on November 21.
"In my view there's ever a poor Aussie side," Southee remarked.
"Our focus is firmly on what we're trying to do. In my opinion the caliber of [the English] side that's going out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
But, prior to the English team travel to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
