Devastating News on Cargo Plane Incident: Fatalities Rises to 13

The tally of fatalities due to the transport jet which ignited and crashed has risen to 13, according to recent statements.

City Leader's Statement

“On my way to the Workers’ vigil, I was informed of a 13th person that passed away as a result of the plane accident,” wrote the local official in a online message. “My prayers is with the relatives, friends and colleagues of all who were taken in this recent tragedy. We will get through this collectively.”

Casualties Confirmed

A statement from the carrier named the officers on board the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts reach out to all employee who has been impacted and everyone in our local region – supporting you and making sure you get the attention and resources you need is our focus,” the firm’s communication read.

Probe Details

Government authorities announced that the jet’s left wing ignited and an engine detached soon after liftoff from the aviation hub, causing the aircraft to crash and erupt into a blaze.

The safety agency stated it is examining the jet’s service record, which was in the state for maintenance weeks before the accident.

Aircraft records revealed the plane was on the runway in that location from the start of last month to mid-October.

“We are aware that this aircraft was present in San Antonio,” said an NTSB member on the following day, without a exact time frame. “We will review every piece of maintenance that was completed, from the San Antonio period, all the way to the time of the flight.”

Findings of Key Evidence

The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder were recovered, and the motor was located on the runway.

The devices – known as black boxes – were designed to survive collision damage and intense temperatures from fires, and they appeared to be in one piece when located amid the wreckage. Investigators plan on analyzing recordings from the black boxes.

Jet’s final data recordings displayed an altitude of 475 ft and a rate of 210 mph ahead of the accident.

Repair History

Per aviation authority files from 18 September, a fracture on a part inside the tank area required maintenance.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which said it provides aircraft servicing for the carrier’s aircraft and operates a repair facility in Texas, refused to speak, but stated it would assist completely when investigators contacted it.

Services Restart

In the meantime, the hub services resumed Wednesday night with its Next Day Air or night sort operation, spokesperson Jim Mayer confirmed. Each of the three runways at Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport were likewise open again.

The sorting center in Louisville is the firm’s largest. The hub hires in excess of 20,000 people in the area, processes three hundred aircraft each day and organizes over four hundred thousand parcels per hour.

Local Support

A candlelight vigil was organized on the night of 6 November by the regional worker’s group, which represents staff at the aviation hub, the firm’s largest freight center.

The union chapter, which stands for staff, commenced the memorial with a moment of silence at 5.14pm, the approximate hour of the incident previously.

“This incident was so abrupt, so unexpected,” the leader addressed the group of attendees. “No one had a moment to part to any one of those who we have mourned.”
